I love the Bates and Ronon interaction. For as much as Bates and Sheppard clashed, I do believe there is this basic Atlantian loyalty within them all to stick together and look out for each other, and I think you really touched on it there. The individual scenes between each team member and John were great, Rodney and his awkward almost-Jeannie-induced hug, and Teyla's tea ceremony were great. I think the best part of this, though, is how Teyla gets that this is something very difficult for John, and just offers a silent, physical (yet platonic!) support.
