Beautiful. You've done the original story justice :) I liked so much about this, but particularly enjoyed the heartbreak of John's slow recovery. That was so realistically written and just so sad! Yet, there is also happiness in this. The team. How they care for Sheppard in his recovery. And, at the end of the day, despite everything, Shep did survive and he didn't really give up. You know I don't think this was dark because it ended on such a positive note. I think it was emotive writing, gut wrenchingly sad in places, but it was a struggle of confusion and torture, both mental and physical which ultimately ended in a positive outcome: Sheppard survived and his friends rescued him and helped pull him through it all. Thus I finished this story feeling a mix of emotions, the final one of which was happiness. Well done! :)
