Happy 4th
Paul Revere yelled “The British Are Coming!” during his famous midnight ride.
In 1775, Independence was not yet declared. Everybody was still “British.”
Revere yelled, “The Regulars are coming out!” meaning that the Regular troops were coming out of Boston. Another misconception is that Revere was a lone rider; he actually had other riders helping spread the word.
The 4th of July is coming up and here is some great facts and analysis of the Revolutionary War which I've found to be eye opening compared to the fast and loose facts most people think they know about the war for our Independence. Some are fun, others are just plain educational.
