Falling behind and Big Bang

I've been swamped at work which is why I tend to play on LJ and will try to catch up on posts and e-mails Thursday.

I wanted to congratulate all those on my F-List for meeting the SGA Big Bang deadline! It is an intense challenge in a short amount of time.

Sadly, Beth and I fell short right before the date. We could have taped up something for our rough draft and sent it out, but we would preferred having a quality story vs something rushed for Big Bang. I'd say we are 90% there(around 56k words thus far) and will end up posting it before Big Bang goes live, but the story was not in the shape needed to meet their deadline or specifications.

The sad news is we will not have the story on the Big Bang archive or have artwork made for it, but the good news is that we'll end up posting it in the next couple of weeks.

Anyhow, that's the update! Will catch up with everything else soon!

I'm sorry you didn't make the deadline -- but I do think it's better for the integrity of the story not to rush the conclusion. That's really the biggest problem with Big Bang and things like it; I love having all the long stories to read, but sometimes they would have been *better* stories if the writers had had an extra month or so to work on it!

Thank you. Sadly, we only needed an extra week and oddly enough, I think it'll be done by the date the final was due, but as it stands it has to be viewed as incomplete. The cool thing is it won't be lost in the shuffle and we might break it up into 6-7 parts for ease of reading since I know a lot of people don't have time to read the long fics in one swoop, but over a week or two, it can be easier in chunks.
