I haven't had any time for reading lately, but watching you talk about the process and thought behind 'Red Sands', I'm adding it to my holiday printing list. We don't go til September, but I'll get there!

On the Criminal Minds front, there are some interesting essays out there about the portrayal of the female victims. The show is fairly unflinching about violence to women, but one thing that's also quite striking is that very few of them are 'helpless'. Many of the victims are incredibly strong or have more agency than their situation should grant them - quite a few of them almost rescue themselves before the team swings into action, and more are instrumental in getting themselves saved. It's something that's quite striking when you're looking for it.

One of the things I like about CM is the character progression. The central characters change over the five series, and watching them in order really brings that out. Hope you enjoy!
