Wow. I don’t know what to say (which is a rare occurrence). That was just a damn good action scene. Yeah, that about sums it up.
The train station and shipyard setting worked so well - not at all the usual turf for Sheppard and his team, and yet they still brought all their talents and skills to the setting. Very, very cool.
The intensity of the action was wonderful. I love the depth of characterization brought to Sheppard here. I am especially enjoying seeing the acknowledgment of Sheppard as the soldier who was capable of being Atlantis’ military leader for the last five years.
You know that I’ve said I’m the first person who loses the threads of the plot in a movie as soon as the action starts. It’s all the more true for books. Often, action scenes turn into a blur of words on the page for me. However, despite the inherent chaos of the action here, I followed this story every step of the way. The writing was so well controlled and the scene so well mapped that it still held together for me even when all hell broke loose. (Actually, I didn’t have any trouble following the Bourne Identity either, so this story is in good company.)
