My Year End Fic in Review Meme

Here is my fanfic in review meme with a few comments about each story.

I’ve also updated my “Master List”

Total number of stories: 7
Total word count for this year (finished stories only, including co-written stuff.) 213,000 k

“Tin Man”
This is actually a Rodney McKay tour-de force and it was a lot of fun to channel him as he and the team try to save John. From what? I can't say. But I will admit this was a very complex to write with a lot of science and heavy on the plot. It's not my action/adv comfort zone and it's not a 'quick read'. I loved the layers and felt this really helped me grow as a writer. I hope people give it a chance despite being a 'quieter' story.

"Four Things Rodney Did For John That John Never Knew About (And One That He Did)"
I wrote this as a gift for [livejournal.com profile] neevebrody for [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch. Yes, it is light slash, but I enjoyed writing these vignettes. They really made me smile.

“Home is Where the Heart Is”
[livejournal.com profile] everybetty and I wrote this for Help-Haiti. I personally loved this story because it gave us a chance to write something with a lot of military elements. Sheppard finally gets the accolades he deserves (including a promotion.) This was part slice of life, action, and h/c. This was our Post EATG story and it was fun to write something based on Earth and included a ton of cameos from members of SG-1.

“Volatile Reactions”
This was written for Help-Pakistan and is a pure adrenaline-filled non-stop action ride. It's written from Teyla's POV and was a fun team story where everyone had their part to play. A very quick read.

“Breaking the Stone”
This was a birthday gift for [livejournal.com profile] tielan and I got a chance to write a John/Teyla story. It's a bleak future fic, but with a lot of hope and with a Teyla POV. I really loved writing the imagery in this.

“Red Sands”
This was the epic John and Ronon story that I wrote off and one over the course of two years. It's 125k long and one of my favorites. It's a gritty, realistic survival story that not only focuses on the environmental challenges, but psychological ones as well. Call it a massive character study of the psyche.

“In Memory”
A short drabble about Atlantis and Memorial Day.

“Practicing Medicine ” This was a Jennifer Keller character study. A slice of life of being the Atlantis CMO.

2011?

I'm going to finish a few charity stories, but will be in and out of fandom as [livejournal.com profile] everybetty and I work on some original stuff. (I'll still be writing, but shorter fics vs. anything really long)
