very cool! I really liked your OC Marcus, and the background of Steve's relationship with him (great flashbacks!). I also liked the way the Team pulled together and had Steve's back, and how Steve realized that these folks were his family now. That despite all the people Steve's lost,he still had people around him he cared about who cared about him:
Chin and Danny were more than his team. As much as he wanted redemption for Marcus, he'd give it all up for their safe return. Even trade himself for them.
He'd returned home to find justice and had joined 5-0 for all the other survivors out there. While he'd continue to carry the flag for those who no longer could, Steve had found friends and family with him in the here and now who could still feel the sunshine and rain. Whose hearts still beat. ::sniff:: that made me all teary-eyed.
And I thought Steve's plan of defeating Chin & Steve's kidnappers was really well-told, very exciting and tense during the action, and sweet and funny afterward, especially Jenna's moment: “I got to fire an MK 30,” Jenna bragged before clearing her throat. “Well, I had to aim it in the other direction, and I promised never to point it near anyone.”
Danny paled. “You shot a fully automatic weapon?”
“McGarrett made me practice first,” Jenna defended. Hee!
A really well-told story, with great characters, an interesting casefic, and suspenseful action. Nicely done!
