Not only women but girls........so many young girls abused, sold,
violated in so many ways.
Dad used to work in nonprofit and he told us once that it was bad enough for boys, but his heart really ached for the young girls...as they were seen so often as throwaway if they made it past birth.
I still have vivid memories about the child brides I saw in India and in Nepal. Sad, very very sad.

Wow, you can tell how hard it was for him to talk about this; for a man so eloquent, he stuttered several times.

I'm so glad he spoke. The silence needs to be broken.

Thanks for posting this.

He's an awesome man. This was very poignant and eloquent.

The subject matter may have been sad but Patrick speaking out was lovely. It often helps people going through similar to know that they're not alone.

Hell, stop the violence PERIOD. Race, gender, sexual orientation, etc....should not matter......

Respect life!

Indeed! But I still commend this particular message and how articulate it was given.

it's amazing with how much money the word spends on trying to kill one another what we could do for the world on a whole.

[identity profile] kristen999.livejournal.com 2012-01-08 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does. It's a message that tends to get lost in the shuffle.

[identity profile] kristen999.livejournal.com 2012-01-08 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I was glad I came across it.

Famous ppl tend to pick up causes, but this was really heart-felt.

That vid is amazing. And thank you for reminding me of Amnesty; I somehow left them out of my donations list, but I'll make sure they get back in there.

Kudo's to Patrick Stewart! Violence in any shape or form should not be tolerated. Thanks for posting.

I was impressed by the speech and his honesty.
