I Think I Can...okay I Could Use Some Selfish Cheerleading

I checked my LJ to ensure the dates and I started writing my [livejournal.com profile] casestory on Feb 24th and wrote until March 21st and got about 12k words done. YAY!

It's April 2nd and the story is due May 1st and I have another 10-15k I think to write. Why muse why??

The good news. I have a month for my betas and edits. This is a Big Bang. Only the rough draft it due on May 1st and posting isn't until early June....but, but...

FLAILS.

I can write 5k a week, right? Then a week to re-write so the poor artist has something readable to choose from. *head desk*

This isn't a story I can just crank out. There's a lot of attention to detail and nuances while trying to keep that emotional edge.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!

You are a very concise writer which I love about your stuff. :D If I'm writing something under 5k then I tend to write all out and cut afterward.

With longer stories, if I have an action scene or a scene where there are three to four characters talking, (oi) I revert to writing things like a screenplay. Get all that vital dialogue or action on the screen so I can visualize or hear it - then fill in the details. But I don't 'come back to that' later..it's how I build-up the piece.

Odd. I know :D

I try to be :). I love telling a story with as few words as possible, if I can manage. (I know, 116K, I don't know how that happened.)

It is odd, yes, although I do it with dialogue sometimes, when I can hear the voices in my head, I blow through typing the dialogue and then add movement, etc. in after, but right after, not, say, the next day.
