So much happened so fast that Steve didn't have time to grieve. As he said, he barely had enough time to bury his father and I got to thinking about him going from ambush to flight to hunting down Hesse. He probably didn't even sleep. Ack. So much buried pain and emotion and I bet things didn’t hit him, his father's words never really got past his mental filters until that moment.
