NIN, Joe, and Writing Randomness
Random randomness.
Funny how on Labor Day I realize that although like most people I don’t get paid for my job, I actually do enjoy it. I report to one person, have the freedom to work at whatever pace I set and create the path in which things get done. I have my tiny office and go in and out as I please.
It is rather nice to like your co-workers be autonomous and work 9-5. A huge difference from my last job.
I’ve been reading about the last Nine Inch Nail shows. There last few are in L.A at venues that hold less than 500 people. To see Trent in such an intimate venue, with no barrier between fans and the stage would be amazing. I’ve heard the shows have been stunning emotional rollercoasters and that he played the entire “Downward Spiral’ from start to finish then about a dozen songs afterward. He’s never played TDS in its entirety live before like that.
Sigh.
On the writing front, I am really enjoying the heck out of my parts of the WW2 AU. The past few days I’ve been dealing with a long Ronon and Teyla scene and realized how much I miss them together! It’s been re-inventing their bonds of sorts, especially given the backdrop of the 1940’s. Beth and I have enjoyed addressing the cultural boundaries and barriers of the time of this story, giving it a very nice slice of reality among all the other historical facets.
Lastly, there’s short interview of Joe Flanigan form Dragon Con below. Thanks to Lythisrose on GW. Joe sounds a lot like the fans in parts of it.

It seems to me that had SGU and SGA and couldn't afford both. Instead of letting SGA have a final season, they kicked it to the curb for the new shiny toy, thinking fans wouldn't care. It was rude to the cast, crew and to us.
The smart idea would have had a season 6 of SGA with SGU as the lead in, then come its second season there would have been no hard feelings.

of stuff earlier in the game' and then I was totally amazed to hear
same thing from Joe in an interview video.....almost verbatim.
I thought Season Five ended with a whimper not a bang..........
I mean if you are going to drop a series, at least have it
end with a big bang not a whimper. I know I am probably in a minority,
but to me Vegas was more like what I would expect as a completion,
not what they offered.
IMO it was similar to some books where it is quite obvious that the author just didn't know what to do anymore with the storyline.
