Give me a Break

Dear Hollywood,

Matt Damon IS Jason Bourne. No Matt Damon, no Bourne.

Jason said he's always been up for the next film, but only if the script was as good as the rest of the trilogy. If he said no, then well, I'll leave the conclusion up to you about the quality.

Is boggled.

It seems pointless doesn't it? Just make another spy/action movie and call it something else, don't call it a Bourne film. Though I guess, if he takes the role, this means those rumours about Jeremy Renner taking over the Mission Impossible franchise are false.

Ugh! When are Hollywood going to come up with an original idea?

BTW finally got to see season one of Justified just in time for season two to start over here this week. Don't exactly love it yet but I do like it a great deal so thanks for the rec. :)

I don't know. It' sad because the Borne Movies proof you ca have an action film that is both smart and suspenseful. With PLOT.

Glad you're enjoying Justified. It's a well written/acted show and it only gets better the second season.

I like Jeremy Renner as an actor, but you're right: Matt Damon is Jason Bourne, not Renner or anyone else. I really love those movies, but it just won't be the same Damon-less.

I would also like to cast my vote for a little more originality in Hollywood. Surely they have enough good judges of scripts and movies to know if something is going to be reasonably good and worth the risk, rather than rehashing past success. And why do they think something that was successful before will automatically be successful in its retelling? Baffling. Maybe the numbers support that, I don't know.

Let's make new movies! Then in like 10 years, we can remake them and capitalize on past success forever. ;-P

Hollywood is nothing but a recycle of old ideas. Even the Indie circuit is fairly flooded by big studios hiding behind something else.

I will not be watching this new generation of Bourne films.

Feel the same. Hollywood ex's think they can just replace actors and the show "will go on". Well, idiots, you cannot just place the actors and expect the show to do as well.

I feel the same about them replacing Charlie "the lunatic" Sheen in Two and a Half Men. Charlie Sheen made that character and it wouldn't be Charlie without Charlie.

They are kidding, right? Please tell me that they are kidding! (I guess that would be wishful thinking, wouldn't it?).

I can't imagine anyone else than Matt Damon playing Jason Bourne. That's like getting a Season 6 of SGA and being told that not a single original actor is coming back. 8o

I won't watch that movie and I think I know which movie I'll watch tonight... :)
