It seems a lot of us have been going through ups and downs of late. There's not another new eppy of H50 for another ten days so how about a Hawaii Five-O HUG fest?

(Wonderful idea! I'm trying to gather myself to deal with the rest of my day, and boy does this help... Here's a two-minute-fic huglet on me...)

There are hugs and there are hugs. Danny wouldn't trade Gracie's hugs for anything, but Steve's hugs? Danny wouldn't trade those for anything either. Nobody hugs like Steve.

Yeah, Danny's poked fun at Steve, expressed a certain level of disbelief that he was hugged much as a child — Steve deserves mockery, what can you do? — but he's been on the receiving end of a couple of Steve's hugs now at times of emotional duress, and he knows.

Steve hugs the same way he says, "If you need anything, anything, you call me," — all fierce and solid and protective, meaning it. Which is scary as fuck, because with Steve's skill set and personal armory, his total disregard for procedure and the rules of civilization as most sane people interpret them, 'anything' could really be anything. So it's scary as fuck —

— but it's also comforting as hell.

Anything. You can feel it. Steve wraps you up in those inked-up, ripped arms of his, curves his body around you, and he doesn't need the words. Not for Danny. Danny hears them just fine. If you need anything, anything, you got it. I'm here.
