Oh thank you for reminding me of Shackled, I've had it on my 'to read' list for a while, and Samdonne's story. It had been recc'd to me by a friend a while back (before I started reading SGA fic). But I've loved the way she writes since I first read her Farscape stuff (Particularly (Black) Ghosts). She's usually one I enjoy re-reading when I need cheering up. Just goes to show you how much I love darkfic. ;)
I read that story by Kodiak Bear here while back and enjoyed the heck out of it. In fact it's what spurred me into posting the first time on Sheppard_hc.
