H50 Fic rec: As a rule of thumb I do not read WIPs for various reasons, but I've totally been sucked into one the last month. It's not on any of the fic communities yet, (until it's complete I think) but it is regularly updated on the author's LJ. Currently at 16 chapters (about 30k thus far)

The Co-operative
Labeled Gen/ Pre-slash (h/c)
By Sealie

This is a lovely AU that is richly detailed, with wonderful character voices, and a very engaging plot. While down on his luck, Danny moves into a cooperative house operated by Steve a recovering ex SEAL. It has wonderful subtle h/c and deals with disability with respect and care. As a reader I totally got pulled into the lives of all our favorites on the show.

**

"Person of Interest" has an article in this week's TV Guide and was labeled a 'safe bet' for a season two after its steady ratings surged since the winter break.

Very vague spoiler that intrigues me under the cut.  )

Eeeep! So, I donated money to help with a kitty's vet bills and won a wonderful story by [livejournal.com profile] imaginarycircus!

She wrote "Airway, Breathing, Circulation"
Summary: Steve is knocked unconscious and Danny provides first-aid with the help of a kind 911 dispatch operator.

Guys, this is just an awesome in-character bit of h/c! With worried, competent Danny and a very out of it Steve. It's chocked full of realism, medical details, and wonderful lovely character moments. It hits all my buttons.

Go read! Now!

It's at AO3, but you do not need to an account to leave feedback there.

Title:"All for Grace"
By:[livejournal.com profile] esteefee
Genre:Steve/Danny -- Action & H/C
Summary: The prompt was: When Grace is kidnapped, Steve goes full-on ninja to rescue her. Maybe they can only send one person in to get her, so against all of his protective paternal instincts Danny has to trust Steve to do it, since he's the most capable. Bonus if Steve gets badly injured during all of this. Also, please don't actually hurt Grace.

Why rec'ed?: This is a great roller-coaster ride of emotion. Lots of action!Steve and desperate!Danny when Grace is kidnapped. It hit all my h/c buttons like whoa! A fantastic Sunday read. It's light Steve/Danny that would appeal to both gen and slash readers alike.

Why rec'ed?: Gripping, powerful and chocked full of emotion.

On September 16th, “Death Game” by [livejournal.com profile] jo_grahamwill be hitting bookstores. I'm extremely excited because I've been reading Jo's LJ and from her generous Q&A's and tidbits about writing the novel, I know it's going to rock! For one, she's is a successful writer with several published “historical/fantasy novels”, but she's also a huge fan and her knowledge of the characters and the meta shows in many of her posts.

We are incredibly lucky as a fandom to have so many gifted fan-fic writers supplying us with a steady supply of adventures which have made some of the most recent tie-in novels a bit of a disappointment in terms of characterization and quality. “Death Game” looks to be a fun adventure set in early Season Two and most importantly, where each member of the team has a chance to shine.

The first chapter of the novel “can be found at this post” and few more in depth peaks to the plot are “posted ” “at these entries”. I'm pimping this novel, not only because I'm excited to have something new and shiny to read by an author who is touch with the show, but the book will have a few set-up pieces for the upcoming six book “Legacy” series set at the end of “Enemy at the Gate”

I'm super-stoked about the “Legacy” series because all the characters are going to have there own plot-lines along with the team, and unlike some of the older books, no one's going to be ignored. There will be plenty of John, Rodney, Teyla, Ronon, Sam, Jack, Radek, Todd, Lorne, Woolsey, Carson and Jennifer. The dates and summaries of those books are “here”.

If you've ever been interested about the writing process,[livejournal.com profile] jo_graham has chronicled the type of planning and thought put into a book series which is both enlightening and I think will pump-up readers for the upcoming novels.

No, I'm not a paid sponsor, I'm just genuinely excited for the books and for an author who I think has put a lot of effort in creating something for all of us to enjoy. I want to rally other fans who might have drifted away from the tie-in-novels and give these a chance!

(Oh and did I say there was going to be plenty of action/adv and hurt/comfort?) hmmm, maybe I forgot :D

Title: “The Hungry and the Dead”
Author: [livejournal.com profile] coolbreeze1
Characters: Team
Spoilers: Set after Season 4's "Be All My Sins Remembered"
Summary: After a devastating accident, Sheppard's team risks it all to make things right.

Why rec’ed: This is a fantastic, gripping team story about loss and sacrifice. There is an author’s warning, so I’m not spoiling anything by saying that one of the members of the team goes down, and the other three go to great lengths to try to ‘fix things'. The character voices are wonderful, the emotions heart wrenching, and there is a very creative alien being that gives the whole thing a fresh feel. If you enjoy team love, friendship, and adventure, than this is a must read.

Title: “Rule Number Four”
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kriadydragon
Characters: John, Ronon
Spoilers: “Broken Ties”
Summary: Tag to Broken Ties. "Rule number four, for the love of everything, if you value your life, never spar with Ronon when he's pissed."

Why rec’ed: John tries to help Ronon after the events of “Broken Ties” and it doesn’t go as planned. I love these awkward attempts at support that don’t work out, because sometimes there is no magic fix in life, but there is hope and bonding.

Fic rec!

Title: “Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”
Author: Santa
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 33,000
Warning: Contains some relatively mild horror-movie-esque imagery and creepiness
Spoilers: Set post-Enemy at the Gate, potential spoilers for all aired episodes.
Summary: John is dealing with his teammates' love lives just like any other emotional issue: by ignoring the situation and hoping it goes away. But when a mission gone wrong traps John, Rodney and Jennifer a thousand feet beneath New Lantea's ocean -- injured and out of touch with Atlantis, with the clock running down and a mysterious enemy in pursuit -- they're either going to have to work out their differences ... or die trying.

This part of the SGA Secret Santa, so the author will be not be revealed unil later.

Why rec’ed:

This is a very rare gem of a fic, a realistic and spot on exploration on the confusion and miscommunication that can spiral out of control when members of a team develop relationships outside the ‘unit’. This is such a mature and thoughtful look at John and Rodney post EATG. I think many people will be scared off at the ‘het McKay/Keller’ label and I want people to read this! I think the label is mis-leading, as the focus is all about John and Rodney and their bumbling inability to talk with each other.

The characterizations are spot on, and I love the Jennifer voice in this, one of the best I’ve seen. Most of all, this is an exciting action/adventure story with lots of h/c, drama, and it is just plain creepy and fun! I can not stress enough to give this story the chance it deserves. You will not regret it. I saw it late last night, read half of it, then finished it this morning.

Fic Rec

I was going to rec this on [livejournal.com profile] stargategenrec then realized that its not GEN. But I still say read it...its so much a character study as it is about a relationship.

Title: Still Haven't Found
Author: [livejournal.com profile] xparrot
Rating: PG -13
Characters: John/Nancy
Spoilers: Outcast
Summary:Already done that. Not very good at it." Three years of friendship and marriage and love and heartbreak.

why rec'ed? A beautifully written story about John and Nancy's relationship through her eyes. It gives us a ton of insight into the awkward, sweet and a broken pieces that make up Sheppard. I imagine loving John Sheppard is a difficult thing to do when the man doesn't know how to accept being loved.

Stealing this from [livejournal.com profile] stargategenrec. I must say I loved this fic...for being edgy, realistic and not glossing over things medically. Its also has wonderful Rodney and Carson voices and its a beautiful Team fic thats well written.

Title: The Edge of the Bridge
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jimandblair.
Characters: Sheppard, McKay, Beckett
Summary: A h/c fic where Carson is competent, Sheppard is the victim, and Rodney is himself.

Why rec'd: The edge of the bridge’s wooden slats cut into his belly. Teeth gritted, Rodney gripped the collar of Sheppard’s tac vest as the man dangled, at arm’s length, above the chasm.

In the aftermath of a mission gone bad and Sheppard is badly injured, Beckett and McKay do their best to save a friend. This is a wonderful story highlighting Carson's medical savvy and his efforts in saving John; for once, Rodney doesn't get to call medicine 'voodoo'.
