SGA: Sateda
Jan. 19th, 2007 08:50 pmI think I need to think very long and hard on the whole "Michael" through the season 3 opener a bit more before I comment on such a layered and somewhat ethical slippery slope for later.
However, I still don't know where to go for meaty discussion of SGA meta but I really dug "Sateda". Its about time we got some Ronon back story arch and I think even though done with flashbacks its was a very powerful and moving episode. The use of the filters and shutter speed for Ronon's past was a nice touch, being hunted on his home planet very angsty.
Backing up to the initial capture I was taken aback by Ronon's threat to kill himself to free both Sheppard and Teyla. This whole episode was so chocked full of the testaments of team bonding that I am beside myself. We've come a long way in creating the family arc and I like how each team member expressed in sentiment or in action, desires to protect one another or for a brother of the Team.
From John's incsistance in going through with the plan even though a Hive ship was in orbit to Carson and Rodney coming along. I really like John's conversation with Teyla everything he said or she filled him for him was what I think we all knew. Despite his lack of social skills or communication the Team of Atlantis is his family and him speaking out loud that he's willing to lay his life down for any of them made me all goose bumpy. It was a great moment played well by both, with humor and emotion well balanced.
I got a hoot out of the action in this eppy. Yes, some of it was way impossible but I didn't care. Loved the all the kick but sequences and once John and Teyla arrived with was 3 vs 25 and they certainly took some names, leaving the mono un mono showdown with Ronon and the big bad Wraith.
I'm glad John allowed Ronon to fight his own battle though he'd loose and it was a nice turn of fate to have Carson and Rodney come to the rescue. The 'hug' was so cute. Did enjoy John's upping the number of kills each time.
Now I BEG my F-list!! John in that irresistible Black Leather jacket he's been sporing in season 3. I need nice, pretty pics. I'll take any but the ones at the end of Sateda, oh pretty please. He looked hot as hell! And I'm dying to know who in wardrobe decided to have him wear the black leather jacket of sex, as if he wasn't drop dead good looking all ready!
I must have!!
