AO3 I give up
Feb. 7th, 2011 04:29 pmI think I'm pretty computer savvy. I've used many fanfic websites to post my work, but I've found Archive of Our Own to infuriating. This was created to be user friendly? Seriously???
I've wasted an hour of my life trying to post one longer fic as a test run.
I hard code my stories ( using hmtl) in order to fit as much onto LJ. I read the faq and copied and pasted (using their tool) one of my hard coded fics to the page. However, when I hit preview, all I see is the hard coding. Nothing is italicized, but I do see all my symbols.
I then copied and pasted directly to the interface with the same results.
I also tried rich text which only stripped away all my italics.
Finally, I used their import feature, thinking if I took all four urls for all four chapters, it would combine them into a single file. No, it made them into four separate stories!
The whole point of trying to use AO3 was so I could post these really long stories as a single file.
What am I doing wrong? Is it the preview function? Does it show all my coding, but when I post the fic, does it disappear?
