Joe, Atlantis fans and the future

Thanks for sharing this and that video link earlier. (Poor Rachel...someone should have picked her up for the convention and escorted her...where were the con people? And Joe looked very good in that orange shirt...and funny entrances...they must have messed up the first introduction? Introduced Paul as Jason?)

I thought the news about the Warehouse 13 episode "Elements", guest-starring our beloved Joe Flanigan, being the highest rated show on SciFi (or SyFy) was it?...was very telling and I wonder if the SyFy PTB realize the significance of it or if they, in their arrogance, will sweep that obvious evidence of Joe's appeal under their dirty little rug and move on? I think they owe the fans and the cast of Atlantis and apology even if their mistake cannot be undone.

I really wish someone out there with a brain and a lot of money would take a chance on Joe, write him a wonderful, interesting character and put all their money on him to make it work. Someone who knows what he's got and isn't afraid of the fact that his name isn't as widely known as the highest paid actors in Hollywood. He would be a very lucrative and valuable long term investment - he's going to be hot for a long time folks! His appeal stretches across all ages, genders, sexual orientation, and cultures...he is crazy attractive, sexy, while somehow remaining boyishly cute, he's quirky, and has personality...well, you know. There are tons of good looking men on TV and in the movies, but I have seen few with the matching inner attractiveness and appeal that Joe Flanigan brings to the screen. I think the fact that he has a life outside of acting helps. He has character and that comes through.

I've read where he is aware that studios aren't taking chances with "unknowns" and that is why we keep seeing the same faces over and over again in movies and now on the major networks on TV. I have noticed just that over the last few years. The same big name actors in all the new movies. It has gotten so old that I rarely go see movies anymore. I want to see new faces out there. Yes, once in a while want to see one of my favorite actors in a role, but not 4 movies in the same year. Jeesh!! Talk about over-exposure. Let Joe Flanigan carry one of those movies.

I don't know if I could watch the new Fall show "CSI: Los Angeles" simply because I think that role would have been perfect for Joe. Not only could he have worked close to home, he is the perfect actor/guy for that role. I would love to see him in a well-written LA detective series. Something clever and new...if that's possible. Who are the writers out there today anyway? Who are they serving? I'm so bored with what is being offered up. What they think we want to see. I am desperate for something truly innovative, with Joe playing the lead character, of course. But I'm biased. Seriously, someone with access and integrity needs to take Joe by the elbow and walk him up to the best people in the business, introduce him and say, "hire this man...you won't be sorry."

I wish Joe and Jason, David and Rachel new successes. I can't wait to hear what Joe's newest project is (which he mentioned at DragonCon). I'm counting down the weeks to when he thinks he can talk about it, and hoping nothing screws it up. I'm glad he doesn't need the money just yet. I hate to see good actors taking jobs solely on the basis of financial need. Hopefully, he'll always be able to avoid that trap. -Diane
