"Red Sands" Week One

I’m going to start back-up my writing updates to help motivate and keep myself on point for the next project. Most of them will be short, unlike this one :D
I’m keeping the nickname “Red Sands” even though the sands are not red in the story. *shrugs*
After six months, I’ve begun re-reading my John and Ronon project with fresh eyes to get my head back into the world I created. I outline my fic, but a ton of details tend to be in my head and I pray I’ll remember all the tiny tidbits I peppered earlier chapters, since this story has several arcs weaving in and out that should, hopefully, tie together in the end.
I think I’ll update every Sunday and as I said, this is just a way to keep myself on focus.
For Christmas
everybetty bought me the “U.S Army Survival Guide” which is the most awesome resource ever! My eyes lit up with some many new plots, but I pushed them aside. I read the chapter on desert survival which was enlightening. I’d already took copious notes from other sources, but this was nice and concise, and has already given me extra data/ideas to play with.
Normally, I write a chapter and send it to my beta. Once I get the edited chapter back, I read the notes and suggestions, but I forge ahead with the next section. By doing so, I don’t loose momentum, but if there was something wrong or confusing in the previous section ,I’m aware of it, and won’t repeat the mistake or allow a illogical loop hole to snowball through the fic.
The one thing that is unique about this project is during one of my down times during Big Bang, I went ahead and did the edits on the earlier eight chapters and I’ll re-send them to my betas so they can get refreshed and will be able to help me once I begin writing new material.
This week’s Progress and Goals:
Today I re-read the first forty pages of my draft doing a little editing as I went with my new information from the U.S Army book. Since I’m off tomorrow, my goal is to have re-read all 50k words with a little tinkering. Then I want revisit my outline and get my head back into it the game for next weekend.
Found this cool link for those who are interested in world building or creating alien races.
