Amazing work! Gorgeous AU, loved all the historical details, but at the same time how well you kept our Team in character--Chin with his solid dependability, Kono with her awesome, Danny with his bravery & loyalty, and Steve with his determination and inventiveness. I also liked how Steve coopting Danny for his UDT group mirrored the pilot in canon, and how you made Danny the "backup" even in this AU. Steve was as close to a SEAL as he could be before they existed. I thought the plot point that Steve's dad died at Pearl made a good resonance with canon too. The romance was lovely and really well done--the pining, yearning, slow-burn of it, finally coming together at the end, was magic! I liked how they had time to learn to work together and trust each other & become friends first, though. All of this against the background of the war that was so vivid and desperate and terrifying and exhausting. Really impressive job!
