I knew the UDTs were the precursors to modern day SEALs, but not much more about them. I was fascinating by the idea when I saw the UDTs on Steve's SEAL shirt last season--I knew one day I'd write an AU about them. This was an emotionally brutal story to write with Steve's dad dying at Peal and trying to immerse the reader in the horrors of war--but the slow burn of their relationship was a joy to write.
