Thoughts on "Adrift" SGA 4.01

kristen999On a positive note, we went over to Beth's to watch the Stargate Atlantis season 4 opener with some friends. What a wonderful, fantastic episode. I'll repeat the same things that everyone else on my F-list have mentioned, but this was a tense, fast paced, nail biter, chocked full of great character development/moments.
My favorite stuff:
All of John's/Joe's subtle facial expressions: How many times did a scene end on his face? This was a emotional roller coaster ride for Sheppard. Forced to take command of the entire city, think in terms of all it's citizen's safety. Dealing with mutil crises on both personal and professional levels and being a leader.
Asteroids: That was freaking cool, gathering all the gene carriers and clearing a path for the city. Rodney's 90 degree tilt and just the mere fact that everyone had to work together to save Atlantis.
Spacewalk: How awesome was it to see Zelenka and Sheppard doing that walk across the chasm of space? Talk about tension and just a great scene. Go hero!Radek The effects during that sequence were beautiful!
Ronon: See I told you! It was a smaller moment, but what Ronon said to Eliabeth spoke volumes! And the scene where John talked to Ronon was very nice.
The fight: Amazing fight between Rodney and Sheppard. It clearly pained John to make that order and it was so apparent how much Rodney struggled with his choice. They both wanted to save Elizabeth and the decision on what to do was just heart breaking.
When Sheppard found out, his anger was just palatable and when he ordered the EMP t\to destroy the natines I was just floored by the gravity and weight of his decisions. Not only was the rest of the city at stake but he didn't want Elizabeth to wake up as some Replicator hybrid. That argument and tension between the two of them was just off the charts.
The apology: Priceless. What can I say about how much I love Rodney for saying the words and for John accepting them. Oh how far we've come since Trinity.
Elizabeth: Wow. Was impressed with the power in her short scenes, even she's horrified at the thought of what could happen.
Oh and Rodney called him John!!!
I can't wait till next week and in an hour I would have downloaded the eppy to re-watch it.
