Summary: He's on the other side of the bars this time. Sheppard has a chat with his new prisoner. Missing scene for the episode “The Seer”.
“You came without an escort.”
“Yeah.”
“Feeling brave?”
“I don't have anything to fear.”
“No...Not with bars between us.”
Sheppard waves his hand over the controls; the high security barrier slides away and the Marines almost jump out of their skins.
It chuckles. “Still protected.”
He turns his back to the prisoner. “All of you take a break.”
Three sets of eyes widen in shock....followed by uncertainty.
“Dismissed!” he growls.
The guards disperse quickly, leaving them alone and unsecured. The monster steps closer; it could suck the life right out of him right now. Ronon's going to chew his ass out.
“Did we not learn our lessons from our last meeting?” it asks.
“Would that be before or after you fed for a fourth time?”
“Does it matter? The end result is what counts.”
He remembers brittle bones, liver spots and strands of silver hair over wrinkled, flaky skin. “I'm not sure if I'm willing to see what that might be this time around.”
“I have my agenda. You have yours. When the two do not meet...well......”
“As long as we benefit from each other in the mean time.”
“Do you not expect anything else?”
“No.”
It chuckles. “We can't fight our instincts can we?”
“Which ones?”
“You want to kill me.......And I can feel the the blood pump within your veins.....we both have to resist temptation.”
Sheppard feels exposed, the thin layers of his uniform and T-shirt merely paper-maché to the Wraith's deadly hands. It doesn't matter, the fear won't chip any of his armor. “We stop the Replicators and it's back to killing every single one of you.”
“And its back to hunting our favorite food.”
“Hope you like diets.”
“I prepared. I fed on many before coming here. I've survived much worse.”
His hand rests on the butt of his gun. “I dunno, maybe a vegan meal might put some color in your cheeks.”
It grins, stepping closer. Sheppard's finger curl around the Glock, knowing that it'd be too late if the beast really wanted to attack.
The Wraith sniffs at his scent, pupils enlarging. “Even now, I can feel your heart beat faster then normal, and remember the high of taking your life, second by second. It's not often that I crave something so powerful and resist it. I'm honoring you.”
His back is moist and insufferable itching plagues his chest .“Or maybe a nice dead animal might tame that inner beast.”
It growls with sharp pointy teeth much like a wolf in fairy tales. “Disgusting. As I said...no need to worry,” it says, stepping back.
“I killed Koyla,” he says, spitting the words out like a foul taste.
The beast's eyes glimmer before closing in deep satisfaction. “I'd hoped one day I would......but the idea of such poison flowing inside.”
“It really didn't change much.”
“He's dead....it means something.”
“Yeah, one less thing we have in common.”
“How many times do you think it'll be before one of us doesn't walk away?”
“I'd bet one.”
“Then I wish you luck, John Sheppard.”
He smiles all nice and tight. They were connected once and sadly this evil thing probably knows him better than anyone on base. The bars to the Wraith's new cage close and a chill slinks down his spine at what could drive this animal to willingly accept a return to another prison.
Lorne and Ronon have just stormed in, their faces flush with anger and worry. The moment their eyes connect, relief washes over their expressions, followed by intense anger.
He appreciates their concern, but this had to be done and neither of them could ever understand why.
