kriadydragon asked... Besides SGA, are their any other fandoms you are into? Or, if not fandoms, shows you enjoy the heck out of even though you don't really write fic for them?


The past couple of years I've been getting into less and less fandoms, which I guess is the reason why I DO love SGA so much.

I still enjoy the hell out of “Supernatural” I adore it, buy the dvds, get excited, watch with my husband, talk about it. But I have no desire to read/write fic or go on message boards.

I love “Law and Order SVU”, I watch that show every night since its on every freaking channel past 10 pm. I love the cast a lot and yet I don't do much with it past that.

Other shows I enjoy include “Bones”, “NCIS”, and I used to LOVE “CSI” but the writing has really gone downhill.

See TV isn't the same from the days of “Farscape” “Babylon 5”, “Star Trek TNG” , “X-Files”, “ER (before season 7)..sigh.

I've begin watching “Rome” after the “Tudors” and have watch 3/4s of season 1 of “Torchwood” but hubby accidentally erased my saved files so I'll have to re-download them but I'm in no rush.

Right now Supernatural is the only fandom I'm semi into. I used to be really into fandom but too many crazies left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I used to be REALLY inot XFiles, Star Trek (all of them, including Voyager), The Sentinel, but lately not so much. Maybe it's because RL has been a bit of a bitch, too much responsibility at work and at home to make me think about fandom...oh well.

I watched all the Treks too, even Voyager...heh.

X-Files could have been the greatest sci-fi show EVER if they had stopped at season 6 or 7.

I liked the Sentinel when it was on and even early Sliders.

You know I love SGA, and I totally and completely agree with you about Supernatural, I'll watch but I don't participate in the fandom at all, Law and Order SVU is just made of awesome. CSI is finally back, Farscape, I MISS THAT SHOW!!! and Star Trek TNG used to be on Saturday nights at 7, perfect timing just early enough so I could go out after.

I ADORE ROME, but freakin' HBO sucks and cancelled it..seriously I don't know which one I was more pissed over, Carnivale, Deadwood or Rome.

I might check out a new eppy of CSI, see if post Sara if its any good.

HBO canceled Rome b/c it was too expensive and the creators said they were okay with it, b/c they were told in advance and felt they could go all out in season 2.....but its a shame it was axed, though I just began watching it.

I know, they had said it was the most expensive show in HBO history before it even began, my love of history and that just made me tune in and then I was hooked, if they had scaled it back a bit it would have been okay, but those sets were absolutely gorgeous, and I totally understand why they totally went for it with the scenery.

And the last season, was fantastic, James Purefoy was just out of control, his portrayal of Antony, it killed me.

Now Deadwood, seeing as that set already existed, their "it costs too much" line really didn't play, it was all about transportation the actors and such, but David Milch did an awesome job on that show, the writing was so Shakespearean that you almost had to watch it twice sometimes, while the language could be a little rough, it fit though, it did. I'm still pissed about that.

I'm half way done with d/ling the entire first season. I've caught a random part of an eppy and instantly liked it. The files are HUGE, but I should have it by tommorrow.

I think getting into fandoms can be a bit of a hassle at times, since it includes running into less than savory stories and opinions. SGA is the only fandom I'm totally into as well, and I'm still kind of new to the whole fandom concept.

Very true. There were a ton of shows I used to watch back then, and I mean a ton. Sometimes at the same time (stupid scheduling.) The X-files was one of them (and despite what my brother likes to claim, "I" was the one who got him hooked on X-files) SeaQuest, The Pretender, Poltergeist: Legacy. These days, I'm into fewer and fewer shows, and some shows I'm even losing interest in.

Even now I have to stay in my own corner of teh world SGA wise, I don't understand how a fandom has so much wank and detractors---but I remain around the postive side fo teh fandom.

That's why I won't read the spoiler thread for episodes on Gatewrold. There's always someone happily stating how they hate so-and-so and wishing the writers would just kill "said character" off already. Either that, or every week they go on about how much they hated the episode, making me wonder (and trying not to ask) why they even watch the show. Odd, very odd.

You're right I tend to stay withing the Sheppard threads but even then, ppl can be negative there as well, but it goes through phases, but I won't go anywhere else on GW.

man, do i hear you on the svu thing. i wouldn't have gotten interested in svu and ci if it weren't for sheer force. dick wolf should get his own law and order channel. if you go to adultswim.com, go to videos, and search "robot chicken kfc" you'll get a parody of every l&o ever, and if you googleimage "chris meloni oz" you can see his penis.

also, googleimage "coco ice t" to see ice t's wife. it must be hilarious when she visits the set.

My husband said they should have thier own channel yet lately, all they tend to show is SVU from season 7 up...I'd kill for the early seasons.

Now you need to read some Supernatural - there are some absolutely fantastic writers out there!! If you want some recs - I got them!!

Love NCIS - but the fanfics are lacking. Only a few really good writers out there.

Same with Bones - too much romance and very little drama.

After Grave Danger - CSI went downhill.
