friendshipper asked... What's your best memory about the outdoors or nature?

This was a tough one, which means sadly I need to go outside more vs visiting museums. I visited the ruins at Chichen Itza and I was enthralled the entire time I was there. Despite the oppressive heat, the idea I was walking the same soil of such a great civilization and touching/exploring structures that had been standing for such long period of time was mesmerizing.

It was a thrilling experience be to out in the middle of the Yucatan and breathing the air of the great Mayans. Really made me want to go 'out' more into the world and I still hope I can soon.

Thanks for the answer! That's cool. I would love to go somewhere like that -- I love old places and ancient structures, the more isolated the better. (Though heat and humidity are not really my thing.)

And yes, I COMPLETELY understand what you mean by 'walking on the same soil of a great civilisation' - 100%. I have always said that touching an ancient object/structure for me is like touching time... It blows my mind. I sometimes cry at the thought of visiting the Rift Valley in Africa, or the Pyramids.

Yes, exactly! I love feeling like I'm a part of history, seeing/touching the very things that people so long ago had used.

Oh cool...there is something mind blowing about ancient civilisations and what they leave behind. I did the four day Inca trail in Peru to Macchu Pichu last year and it was amazing to think that the Incas were there all those years ago and the route i was walking was one that they'd set out.....
