What a joyous night! So proud to be an American tonight! We got it right! Barack's speech was awesome - hope and joy! Love the pictures and shots from around the world. Maybe we can be friends again instead of the school yard bully. Awesome! Thanks for the pics - the future is looking up.
Tho it was close in Montana, and it still went red (barely), I am proud to know the county I live in vote 70% for Obama.
I have been sitting at my desk grinning all morning, and my thoughts keep going back to McCain's concession speach. I thought it was very eloquent, and if could have acted like that through his campaign, who knows what the results would have been.
And Obama'a speach - wow. We were both in tears here. That man is an amazing speaker.
One fact I want to share - Mike Mansfield, probably one of the greatest and most respected statesmen of our times, and a fellow Montanan, personally took Biden under his wing when he was a Frosh senator and groomed him to be his protoge. That alone has me happier than you can imagine. Obama chose wisely.
I loved that a crowd formed outside the White House last night...cheering and celebrating Obama's victory. A CNN reporter said he believed Pres. Bush would be able to hear them inside the White House. I know some of you in fandom, writers and readers, voted for and supported McCain and believe me, I feel your pain. I'm not trying to gloat...just expressing my excitement. I hope that we can all move forward as Americans and really think about what our country needs and how we can repair it from the inside out, even while repairing our image internationally. I think the election of President-elect Obama instantly brought us a step closer to improving our international image, but we need to continue to build bridges by making the right decisions. Thanks to all of you for your excellent storytelling. That helps to bring US all together. :.) - Diane in Indiana
