Here was my entry into the LFWS contest. We had to use an OC character for this challenge.

Title: “Daily Deeds”
Rating: PG

Got a mixed bag reaction to this, although I think it was mainly because of my style. With 500 words, it's tough to pull these things off. Funny thing is I loved this much more than my last entry and my score went down :-P

I thought it was great. Such a nice little vignette.

It was in my column "great" with five other fics (yes, I make a spreadsheet and everything *g*). I thought the OC was incredibly original and Sheppard very much in character. I liked it a lot.

I thought it was written rather well, myself. :)

I like the OC you chose. It's a unique angle and one that has not been visited before to my knowledge. It only makes sense there would be one on the expedition.

John and Teyla were very much in character. No matter who offers to lend an ear, John is the type who deals with his own personal 'demons' in private. (I think John likes to make his peace directly...without the 'middle man')

Well written. Made me want to give him a great big hug!

:D

Thank you! I got the idea from a scene that Beth wrote in our fic “Exhuming McCarthy” (http://everybetty.livejournal.com/12509.html#cutid1) that showed where the people of the city went to pray.

And I sat down to think about it...and was really floored over how much death and hope a chaplin would have to face in Atlantis.

And yes! John would be respectful..but he shares his pain with no one.
