I'm trying not to be upset or down about SGA being over with. I can say that EATG was indeed a great send off and a good season finale.

Not deep thoughts, more like reactions.

EDIT with more random thoughts

Most of the seasoner openers and closers are action eppys with sliced with team moments. This was no exception and it was a great mix of action and tension.

Loved the conversation in Woolsey's office where Teyla and Ronon said that Atlantis was there home. I've always felt this way but now it's canon.

The conversations between John and Todd were another highlight. As much as I love Todd, I still think John's distrust of things always going pear-shaped between them is truthful and that he's always of the mind that he might kill the Wraith. But he never does and I think that's part of their weird respect for one another. Also Todd admitting John knows him too well in regards to giving them the ZPM's to spite the rogue Wraith was cool.

Wow. I was almost pissed that they killed Ronon. Very intense and I was kind of annoyed that he was going to be left behind then again with so little time they had could 't drag heavy Ronon around. Its the realism of war. Though it was John leading the way back to get his body me thinks. Ronon has Amelia and I think it's adorable.

Ronon told John this was his home...awesome.

I wish we had more time to see the team's reaction to what happened to Ronon, but were pressed for time....growl.

Okay selfish sigh here. John in a flight suit..GUH. And what about that backpack when he arrived at the SCG? lol

Thank you writers for letting John do what he does best. Be a combat pilot. Of course going all suicidal again, but what else could he do?

Great build up with the Super Wraith ship and trying to destroy it. Also with saving John..then the team almost blowing themselves up. Thank goodness that wasn't a 'cliffhanger'.

Enjoyed the Woolsey parts with the city. And Carson has improved his interactions with the chair....okay bit of a stretch..but he's always had the strongest expression next to Sheppard, just not the control I thought, which showed a little.

We learned the Wraith can give life back and that the precious Antarctic chair is now gone. That's huge!

Then Altanits landed on Earth. I don't know why some people say this was anti-climatic. Last thing I wanted was a freaking cliff hanger and all the tension/action leading up to it was great.

Then the loving team ending, yes I said team. Enough harping about the three second Keller and Rodney scene. It is canon, and they didn't dwell on it.

It was cool seeing Carter again and Major Davis...the man did awesome with the little bit he had and I'm glad to have seen Zelenka in this!!

Should this had been two hours? Yeah, but for what they did...it was enjoyable.

Fitting send off and paves the way for lots and lots of fic!

I'm going to miss you Atlantis. And I hope fandom will continue to gives us great adventures.

I'm willing to bet 75% of the folks who watch this went "should have been two hours."

I'm just hoping TPTB realize what fans want - team episodes - and give us that in the movies. And I hope we don't get McKeller shoehorned into it (I don't mind the relationship, just how they must always stick something in episodes about it).

I think my only minor complaint was that I felt it moved kind of fast - which is probably why people felt it was anit-climatic. But the reason I felt this was because the ep had so much happening in just an hour. It really needed two hours, I think.

Other than that, though, I think it the perfect send-off. We had the whole gang, we had Rodney and Zelenka being geniuses, Sheppard being a kick-butt pilot, but most importantly we had a kick-butt mission with our team plus the bonus of Lorne *happy sigh.* And Atlantis coming to Earth to save it, then landing on earth - very cool :D. Finally, I like that they left Todd's fate open like that.

So they sure as heck betteer do a movie, and is sure as heck better not involve Sheppard having finally killed Todd just to be rid of him.

Now to go do a little wibbling over on my journal cause... it's over! Wah! :(...

YOU NAILED it! that's it!!! that is why I think it was just like, what? what happened!!!

I wanted longer, although I do agree I would have DIED! (I fail at waiting)
if the show have ended in a cliffhanger and then wait until the "maybe movie dvd" to finish the arc or if RONON had indeed died, would have left a bitter taste and a broken heart (more broken).

Now that I read Kristen's sheppard hightlights, I did like that, a lot. he look so cute with the backpack and the flight suit, and I did get a laugh at hubbies coment "wow Sheppard just loves Nukes and suicide missions" I thought it was a nice going back to the first season end.

I will miss this show though!!!

Yeah, John's knack for suicide missions really should be addressed at some point ya think. With all the negative in fandom, I'm trying to stay positive and there was enough in this to keep me happy, despite the hour vs two that was needed.

Yeah, I love the eppys with the insane mission objectives are end end game scenarios. The whole city and team bands together, lots of heroics, lots of action.

John didn't kill Todd, he just likes the power plays.

Overall, a fun send off...sigh

I simply cannot see Shep having killed Todd. For one thing, Todd wouldn't be stupid enough to do anything to get shot, and Sheppard is not a cold-blooded murderer. They're on earth, and well, now all his actions will also be considered to have taken place on earth. what happens in pegasus, stays in pegasus ;) but not here. Plus, well, i somehow think the IOA will be happy to have a live lab rat. Alas, poor Todd...

Really enjoyed that - you never know what you'll get with a season finale. Besides the fact that I kept thinking this was the last episode of the series, I really loved everything that happened in this one. Like you, I was also starting to get mad that they killed Ronon. Of all the people they could have knocked off, they killed RONON?!!! Good thing they brought him back before I blew a gasket.

I have no idea where they'll go with the movie, but they certainly left it open enough that anything could happen. And Todd's still alive! Yay! That could lead to all kinds of trouble in the future.

Yeah, the movie has be very intrigued. They can't stay on Earth though they can still go on missions..I think through the gate? But why?

Makes you wonder what has to happen in Pegasus to force them to return.

I had some different thoughts that I put up on my LJ, especially about the ships and John. You know that Todd's not dead. They're setting something up for the movies.

Dude, by law, Davis would have been kicked out six or seven years ago at the very latest if he was still a major. The writers just suck.

John better get his promotion to full-bird for this because even with or without whatever everyone else did, he still destroyed the ship and saved everyone through his sacrifice of bringing the 302 on and setting off the nuke. All the others did was delay that a little and get him off the hive alive.

Yeah, apparently Atlantis is sitting on the Farallon Islands because they are where the ship would be from the shots they showed in the final scene.

Interesting body language between John and Teyla at the end there, especially in the shots from behind like Wraithfodder's put up.

Yeah, its like everyoen has someone except John. Wonder if Kanaan was elsehwere. Either way, John and Teyla are close and I think is soething can be explored post canon.

I loved this thing! I also wished had been two hours long. It felt very roller-coaster-ish and moved so fast if you blinked you missed something. Just when I was getting a little tired of John in one place and Rodney somewhere else, they fixed that nicely for me. I went in relatively spoiler free, and was flabbergasted when they killed Ronon...but they fixed it so all is forgiven. Then I missed him getting rescued, and had to rewind the TIVO and watch the scene again. I loved the moments with Ronon in the infirmary at the end, and the nice team-y moment...I was afraid it was going to be a total cliff hanger left open ended until the movie, but this ending was much much nicer.

I'm glad I have this on teh DVR. Wished the team had more reaction time to "Ronon's Death' though Rodney's was priceless as was John's when he learned. And Teyla's anger was just..wow...yeah, give us more of those type moments.

Good eppy. All the way around.

While I do think this eppy would have been improved by getting more time for the story I love what they did.

In some ways it was a 'old home week' for the entire Stargate 'verse.

We got to see Walter, Mjr Davis, Caldwell, Ellis, Todd & even Kavanagh. And I loved when Carter told Sheppard that the Phoenix had been re-christened as the Hammond. It was a nice little tribute to Don B Davis. And even if RDA didn't make an appearance O'Neill was mentioned.

I'm of the opinion that 'old' Carson's difficulty with Ancient tech stemed more from his being somewhat afraid of it than anything else. And he never was really comfortable going 'off world'. But 'clone' Carson has shown he's willing to take more risks then his progenitor was (he's more at home in his skin).

All in all I was most pleased with the finale, though sad to see SGA go.

At least for now. ;)

The awesomeness of openers and finales are how all the stops are pulled, how we see everyone and everyone has something significant to do. What can I say..I love heroics and while I wished it was longer..it had some great, great stuff.
