First off "Justified" continues to impress. No time for a review, but some news. FX ordered seven eppys at first and the ratings went through the roof, it's second only to the network's "The Shield" during its hay day when it premired though has cooled off, they've ordered seven more to air two months after eppy seven.

This means if you don't catch it, you'll have time!!

I'm taking off tomorrow for a week with my mom! Buses, trains, and planes, oh my! But I should be on the train through D.C and see the cherry blossoms :D

Have fun...did a girlfriend trip for week last April in DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival...it was beautiful!! There were 5 of us plus family and friends of one of my girlfriends...lot of people to keep up with...would have rather gone with one or two...less stress. But it was great fun!

Safe trip...we'll keep Sheppy warm for you!!!!

Is it worth dealing with the Metro and an hours drive to actually attend the festival? My mom and I keep trying to decide.

Truthfully, no. We were staying in Laural,MD and had only a short drive to a Metro station but the trains were extremely crowded and we left for DC the day of the Cherry Blossom parade at about 7:30 am. The crush and the wait to get on the train was worse in DC itself. Then at the end of the day, we left around 5 pm...the station near the Washington Monument was a mob scene. As long as it doesn't rain, I would go into DC the day before or the day after if I had it to do over again...the blossoms will be just as pretty and all those people will be gone...but it is beautiful. I love DC...be sure to go to the Newseum...it was wonderful. They have a very moving 9-11 memorial, an entire wall of newspaper front pages from 9-12 and part of one of the towers is there. They have a real guard station from the Berlin wall and part of the wall itself with all the graffiti on it. Also a great gallery of news photos. It was nice, about 20 bucks to get in but I thought worth it.

Have fun and please we want details!!! OH...and don't forget the National Art museum...the Matisse room will make you feel so happy!

Actually, only the premiere of Justified was 2nd only to The Shield, then the ratings dropped like a stone, literally: 4.2 mil. -> 3.5 mil. -> 2.3 mil.

I'm being cautious and waiting for the ratings for ep 4 before I try to get in the show. Too many shows that I loved were canceled and left me heart-broken :(

Oh, man, I'm sorry to hear that about the ratings. It's such a great show! I thought it was doing well. *sigh*

I am glad to hear that we'll be getting 14 rather than 7, though. I didn't realize the original order was that small.

You really shouldn't fret. Network cable/basic cable show ratings are much diff than CW, NBC< ABC..etc.

A how that averages 1.5-2.5 mill viewers is considered a HUGE hit. USA has higher rated shows because it's on the 'dial' more than FX.

All FX cares about is how it fares compared to other FX shows and it falls in line wiht the rest of its line-up. I doubted it'd maintain those debut numbers, but I have no idea about time shifting figures in TIVO. Add in that FX repeats its show 4 times a week---..

My guess is what they will hope for with Justified is that it at least does something similar to Sons of Anarchy, where it gets decent numbers in its first year. In its first year Sons of Anarchy averaged a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49 (1.46 million 18-49 viewers), in its second year it averaged a 1.9 rating with adults 18-49 (2.56 million 18-49 viewers). Those kind of numbers will get you canceled on the broadcast networks, but on cable, that’s a monster hit.

It IS doing well. Basic cable is a lot diff than normal networks. Anything having a 1.5 million to 2.5 million viewers for basic cable is considered a HUGE hit for something like FX.


I'm sad the numbers have dropped, but it's gold for FX even at 2 million viewers. I'm not worried and who knows what's going on wiht TIVO which is looked at a bit more than it used to. Add in the FX repeats Justified it's either 3 or 4 times, than I wouldn't be too worried :D

I too like Justified. First two eps were strong. Not so much for the third. Still need to catch up on the fourth. It reminds me a bit of Saving Grace.
