I've been kind of brain dead of late. A lot of the East Coast is caught in a heatwave and since I live in Buffalo, we only have a window AC unit in the bedroom. Also, work's been a bear since we're in the middle of planning a huge sales transition and advertising process, which I'm involved in every level.

For all those who had been waiting for the whole thing, I posted all of “Red Sands” this week and it's like a huge weight has been set free. It took a lot out of me and I'm glad to see it finished. :D

I went from writing every single day to just tweaking with each installment, to--well, not doing anything. It feels very odd. My brain doesn't know what to do! Shouldn't I be writing? Yet, the very idea of sitting in front of my computer has my muse running away! (Not for long though, everybetty and I have our overdue Help _Haiti coming up)

I'll be going on a vacation next week and I'm looking forward to visiting my mom.

Maybe I should come visit you. For the past couple of weeks cooler temperatures kept following us around - went with us to Utah, to Washington, back to Utah and attempted an assault on Kansas but didn't quite make it (though we were able to open our windows at night). Maybe another trip will see it following us again ;)

Red Sands was an epic among epics, it's no wonder you're worn out. The vacation should help recharge you quite a bit. I think it was you who told me that getting out and about does wonders for the mind (or something along those lines) and now I know it's absolutely true :D

If you visited me, we'd be busy writing nothing but fic! :-P

Sounds like heaven where you live. Going outside does do wonders to one's emotional state and I am sooo looking forward to my vacation!! Going to enjoy no schedules!!

I would imagine your brain has barely recovered from "Red Sands." a vacation sounds like a good thing.

It's been pretty hot here, too. The humidity makes it especially uncomfortable. It was so hot that when I got out of an air conditioned cab the other day, my glasses steamed up.

My brain is a crazy place right now! I'm looking forward to just idle distractions, although I'll be on a plane and two trains each way of the trip! I often take a book, but end up thinking about writing.

Evil drug.

Sounds steamy by you as well :D

I'm not surprised writing Red Sands took a lot out of you. It was a wonderful piece of work and obviously demanded an enormous personal involvement to write - time and emotion.
Here, in Paris, France, we're having a heatwave and I would love nothing better than to be on the beach, under a parasol, dipping my feet in the water. Whatever holiday you like the best, I hope you're going to get it.
I hope you have a wonderful break - you deserve it. Enjoy and then enjoy some more!

My husband has been very confused. Every day he asks, "shouldn't you be writing?" because I used to spend a few hours each night doing just that for almost a year.

The secret to marriage I've found ti to spend time together but to also have your own space and he's been weirded out to all the 'free time' I've had :-P

I look forward to getting away and mom and I will be exploring George Washington's home this time. I'm a history buff, so we're always checking out historic sites.

Oh wow, I live in the Midwest so I know what it means when you say you only have a window ac in the bedroom. You have my complete sympathies. I am thinking cool thoughts hoping that you get a break in your heat wave soon!

Edited to add - Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you! What makes things tough is that my husband and I have opposite sleeping schedules and most of the time the bedroom door is closed, locking all that nice AC!

I just got back from a 2-week vacation in Florida - I escaped the heat wave at home and got to spend 2 weeks in a pool and a/c - perfect vacation! Not that I don't have a/c at home but I don't have the pool on the patio! And it's true - a fun vacation does wonders to relax the mind :)
And lucky me comes home to a complete saga fic! Yay! Gotta make sure the printer is equipped with paper and ink and once the kids are off to camp, I'll be 'puter-bound!
