Ignore for ramblings about writing.

I have my Secret Santa on the ropes in round twelve of a non-stop brawl. It has been kicking and punching and yes, spitting at me at every corner. I have most of it done, minus two or three scenes. I hit 28k tonight.

It's very big on plot and interactions.

The one thing I've learned from previous battles is to revert to 'screen writer mode'. With tons of lengthy sections building top of each other, I craved the desire to sit back and observe the whole picture. I'll write mostly dialogue and any pivotal action. I won't even write who is saying what, but that's a great exercise in itself. The ability to 'hear' the character voice without seeing the name.

Once I've done that for say 5k words, then I can 'see the big picture things' and feel more confident going in and filling all those needed details.

I've missed out on a lot of reading, but I'll go down the list once I've turned this over for beta.

Weeeeeeee!

28,000? That's a lot of words. I know you'll get that fic to the canvas in the next round. Happy writing!

Writing is wonderful when the characters all cooperate and the plot just flows. But there are times when having Rocky round to beat it into submission would be a good thing!

It's a technique I've used from time to tome with my longer involved stories. It helps get words to the page, though requires more editing which is fine :D

Of course you realize it was meant as a tease, a light hearted one at that, not something to be taken seriously as I know frustration when I see it.

It's almost there, but it also means I have a lot to fill in, but that's not as bad.

28K! Woo! And you're almost done with it! I know this was a complicated story to write, so you've got to be feeling thrilled that it's almost finished. I can't wait to read it! :D

I love that screenwriter mode style of writing. It doesn't work for every story (for me), but when it does, it's awesome. I feel like I get so much of a story down on the page (where it won't be lost in my head forever) in a very short amount of time. Good luck with the rest of your Secret Santa story!!

It's been nice to see everything laid out on the page. I feel the last section is 'thinner' because there is so much dialogue and that's been a mental block on my part, but I hope it all pans out at the end.

Hee. It's part writing diary and I'll admit, it's nice to have a good pep talk. I think the reason why people write WIPs is that need for encouragement and when I need a morale boots, I post about my progress :D
