Ferocious Planet Review

There's a review of Ferocious Planet here.
The highlights:
Most genre fans have a love/hate relationship with Syfy Channel films, I suspect. While most of us enjoy ninety-minutes of watching a bear-shark-a-cuda chase down unsuspecting victims on a Friday or Saturday Night, there’s no denying a good portion of Syfy original programming simply isn’t worth being subjected to. In fact, some of it is downright unwatchable. Most of the fare coming off like Girls Gone Wild videos with thin genre plot lines to justify being on the network.
But, every once in a while a Syfy Original comes along that’s actually well written, well crafted, and it gives you hope that, perhaps, more such films will follow, which is why we keep watching.
Ferocious Planet is one of those films.
And:
Overseeing security during the demonstration is Colonel Sam Synn (played by Joe Flannigan of Syfy’s Stargate: Atlantis and Warehouse 13). Synn’s a burned out soldier with a checkered past and all he wants to do is get through this babysitting gig so he can get busy with retirement and spend the rest of his days on his boat.
I've been excited for this film, cheese and all. I'm thrilled to read it's fun and well done for the genre. Add to it that I'll be watching this and "A Good Day For It" with
everybetty and I couldn't ask for a better Saturday!

Date: 2011-04-05 08:16 pm (UTC)Plus, I'll admit, I don't want to see Joe's character die. I hate it when my favorite actors play characters who die. I know it isn't real, but it still makes me sad.
All that said, I am looking forward to this movie because Joe! :D

Date: 2011-04-05 10:03 pm (UTC)I won't watch things when my favorite character dies as well.
But I think it'll be a fun riot.

Date: 2011-04-06 02:46 pm (UTC)I think I might go in with low expectations, though, hee hee.
(and we still have "Change of Plans" in the Tivo. My daughter rewatches it every now and then and threatens to pick that show to torture her brother when it's her turn to own the remote, heh. Never object to a little random Joe in the house!)
Hey, how/when do you get to see "Good Day for It?"

Date: 2011-04-06 04:00 pm (UTC)A "Good Day for It" has excellent reviews! It was released on DVD in Australia; yeah, I don't understand either. So, since it's been 'released' it's available in certain places.
E-mil me for a safe place :D
I'll def buy it, no matter. But I'm tried of waiting.

When I heard Joe was going to be in a movie I thought, 'yea!!' When I heard it was called 'The Other Side' I thought, 'interesting.' When I heard it was Sy-Fy, I had to physically resist doing a face-palm and resorted to just groaning out loud. When I heard they changed the name to 'Ferocious Planet' I thought my fears were confirmed....Your brief review has brought me hope however.:)
I would watch it regardless because it's JOE!! However, I don't have Sy-Fy right now and probably won't have for at least a couple more months....sigh. Is there any way I could possibly watch this elsewhere?
I miss JF (especially Sheppard) so much.
I didn't get to see Change of Plans now it seems I'm going to miss Ferocious Planet too. I want to see Good Day for It and I would buy it in a heartbeat if I knew where to get it. :(
Anyway, thank you so much for the update on JF and his projects! Happy Saturday to you!! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Date: 2011-04-08 02:39 am (UTC)COP will be out on DVD in a few weeks and I'm sure you can get FP via the same means as AGDFI. In either case Ferocious Planet comes out on DVD in June I think.
:D
