Trailer looks interesting. This is the film that Trent Reznor is scoring.
Directed by David Fincher.

I really loved both the book and the Swedish movie, though both are very dark -- as well as dealing with incest, there's a very brutal rape that's shown in detail in the original movie. I'm interested to see the American one as well; from the trailer it looks like they were able to keep a lot of the grittiness and indy-film weirdness of the original.

A friend of mine really liked the Swedish film. I was mainly curious about the project when I heard Trent would be scoring it and I'm normally a fan of Fincher's work. Might have to put the book on my summer to-read-list.

I definitely recommend reading the book! While I enjoyed both, I'm glad I read the book first, because there is just so MUCH plot and so many characters that are much easier to keep straight in the book than in the movie. I watched the movie with my husband (he hadn't read the book) and kept pausing it to remind him "we saw this character half an hour ago, and they did this and this" ... the book is full of these cool little reveals as you start to see how all the plot pieces fall together that are a little more confusing in the movie because they did have to trim things and streamline the cast to make it all fit in two hours.

I read the first book and now I'm on the second one. I love them! Fabulous reading. Not sure if I will see the movie, usually I'm disappointed with them.

I'm a fan of Fincher's work. Sometimes I'll watch a movie specially for the director only because of my geeky past with friends who were in film school. Although I tend to wait for everything on DVD unless it is something epic :D

I don't know much about this, but my BIL tells me that the Sieg Larsson books are largely disappointing.
I am looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens....

Huh, I've heard nothing but good things about the books. Regardless, I'm looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens as well for a good old fashion Summer popcorn flick. :D

This film intrigues me on a stylistic bases.
