I can always find a Nine Inch Nails CD that will reflect my mood or shift it in another direction. From synth and guitar, to piano and cello. Trent has one of the widest array of music out there. Cluby, industrial, somber, or instrumental. From a whisper to a scream.
But if I had one word to describe Nine Inch Nails it is cathartic. It took me a long time to decide which live performance to showcase and in the end, I went with "The Becoming". This was recorded at one of the very last shows Trent ever did preforming all of "The Downward Spiral" in it entirety at a small club in L.A.
I think this is a perfect example of versatility of songs, not exactly the loudest or the most energized, but there's just something about it. Plus you get to see Trent go from piano to keyboard to yes--the tambourine. Just a small stage and a great crowd.
