Flailings of glee people. Let's just say that Kristen is on cloud nine.

Remember life is hard, escapism is supposed to be fun. So, come on over below the cut.

I don't care how silly the plot was, because this was all about the team doing whatever it took for another. Starting with Steve doing what he could do to help a friend.

Oh Steve, that look on your face when you realized you'd been betrayed. Or when Jenna was dragged in and you were face to face. When he asked her why?

Jenna. I get what you did. You loved your fiancee and you're all eaten with guilt over the ambush. But my God. What consequences. I loved seeing this side of her. Pulling the pin out of her dead lover's knee. Taking out one of the bad guys. Her confession to Danny on the phone.

Her last moments. Sad, tragic and redeeming.

And Steve. Dear lord. The punishment you took. That was brutal. You hurt so good, sweetie. Ack! Yet, you still were able to laugh in Wo Fat's face. Able to escape from those bindings and how much I loved watching you be all athletic.

And still able to kick ass even while pretty damn hurt.

I know you took Jenna necklace because it wasn't there later.

And TEAM! Oh, TEAM. Buttons my buttons. Worry. Concern. Danny asking Jenna if Steve was still alive. All them coming together. Willing do anything.

Who didn't love the SEALs helping one of their own?

Jimmy Buffet was awesome and the A-team I mean our team going all commando to rescue Steve.

Danny finding Steve first. And Chin and Danny carrying him, having to help him into the chopper. I could have used a few more moments like that, just a few more. But Joe. I loved Joe's fatherly protection. The hands and the leaning Steve against him at first.

The only person missing was Kono and I was a bit ticked about that, but I'm just going to be in a glow of happy. It occurred to me about grabbing Jenna's body, but they were in enemy territory, a rusty helicopter and the need to get the hell out of there.

I just loved it all and it needed to be longer and we needed more comfort but that's what fic is for.

All I ask is mention of this in the next eppy. Something.

YAY

I'm sorry Jenna is gone. When Joe felt for her pulse, I was hoping he'd say she was still alive and that somehow she'd make it. I would have loved to see everybody work through the consequences of what she'd done. It was a stroke of genius to put both Jenna and Steve in the same room. And Steve's face when she was shot -- oh, wow.

This pushed all the right buttons for me--the care, the worrying, and Danny being CONCERNED, Danny being the one to find Steve and Steve's face, OMG. He'd do anything for his team, and that includes Jenna. And clearly, his team would do anything for him. That's all I want out of the show. Well, that and Jimmy Buffet, who was awesome, and Joe with his Navy buddy going boar hunting. Hee!

::flails along with you::

I've watched it three times and I'm still flailing.

Weren't Scott & Alex AMAZING in this ep! And Larissa too!
Danny frantic over Steve. Steve being betrayed by Jenna. Jenna realizing she screwed up. OMG.

I know Steve took her necklace. I just know it!

I'm pretty ticked about Kono not being in the chopper too.

I REALLY wish they'd made this a longer ep and not cut out those extra minutes Lenkov talked about that he really didn't want to cut out. I want to know what was in them.

I agree, the story had a lot of flaws, but oh my, it was so worth it! I cried at the end. I felt so sorry for Jenna. She did what she did out of love and desperation. When she found her fiancee's body, I gasped. He'd obviously been dead for a while. Taking the pin out of his knee ... wow.

Steve and Danny? Squeeee! Yes, and yes, everything you said. I wanted more h/c. I wanted Danny to be holding Steve at the end, in the chopper. I wanted them to have their own memorial for Jenna and her fiancee.

Steve was hot, hot. hot! And Danny should wear that black t-shirt all the time. :-)

Even Lori wasn't too annoying, though how she can wear heels and jeans on the job?

I loved Joe and Jimmy Buffet's character.

I loved the SEALs.

I love Chin Ho getting engaged.

And I downloaded the ep so I can watch it whenever I want! I know there's a lot of episode tags already. but can it hurt to have a few more? I don't think so!

Chin Ho getting engaged and watnng Steve to be his best man!! Lori wasn't annoying and there was just so much to love.

Jenna. Man. I really liked her and while I knew she would die it was still a shock and Steve's face!

And Danny's when he found her :(

I'm thinking of writing a tag when I'm done with a project, but I won't be hand waving what Steve went through b/c if you step back and think about--he's going to be hurt pretty bad.

Finally got to see the ep myself - oh wow, I really needed something like this. I think I agree on all your points - love the bit between Joe and Steve, and Steve's reaction to being found (plus he whumps so well). And the even used Jimmy Buffett well.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Jenna, but seeing her compared to Lori, just cemented how weak and one-dimensional Lori's character is.

shooting him? Not sure but it looked like that.

Her whole story was questionable in my mind.
Please tell me someone dispatched her as in Team Six did Bin Laden

This episode was full of awesome! Yes! I watch TV for escapism, there's enough "reality" in real life thankyouverymuch. ;)

Loved the team, loved the military stuff and ADORED the ending. ADORED! Did I mention... ADORED??! ;)

Jenna's story was so tragic, but she did the right thing in the end.

You're right about Kono, not much of her, to my disappointment and I still am "meh" about Lori, probably because they're just not doing anything with her character. She's sort of a warm body, and not much more. :/ Just IMHO, YMMV.

I've liked season 2 so far but it just wasn't, for some reason, giving me the squee that season 1 had, until this episode! :D

Hawaii 5-0 got their mojo back! :D

I just wish that tv didn't "heal" their characters so fast. I want a little more realism from my whumpage! I wanted Steve lying on the floor being saved rather than running around whipping everybody in three states.
And Jenna, wow, they did a really good job with her character. I didn't like her, then I did, then I didn't, then I did, then I didn't know how I felt about her.
But Lori, just useless. It makes me wonder, I'm gonna catch you know what for saying this, but, it makes me wonder who's she's connected to that got her this role.

It would have been nice to have seen how battered Steve was, but he was trained to withstand torture and evade and escape. SERE training can last for weeks. I'm chalking all that running around to pure survival instinct and adrenaline, but alas, it would have been nice to see him hobbling. We did see that he couldn't walk on his own or climb into the chopper without help.

If they would have shown us more of THAT, it would have balanced things out a bit. Then it again it needed to be a two-parter..lol

I'll fix it (whistles)

Larissa and Alex stole the show for me. I'll really miss Jenna and take her anyday over Lori. I've never really felt any emotion before while watching Hawaii 5'0 but the scenes between Steve and Jenna were the most heartwrendering of the show so far.
I thought the whump was a bit unrealistic and even super Seal Steve shouldn't have been able to move after such a beating, but I can let that go because whumped Steve was a joy to watch.
The rescue was a little too easy I felt and I wanted this to be a two parter so we could get some H/C as well and I wanted Kono in the helicopter with her team. But overall a very entertaining episode and Alex proved once again why Steve is my favourite character on the show.

From: [identity profile] kristen999.livejournal.com
Having it be a two-parter would have given us all those needed missing scenes. Especially the comfort that I craved. Lenkov said they cut 12 mins from it..that's like 25% of the eppy. But who know who approves multi-part eppys?

But besides that. Yes. Great eppy.

OMG, OMG, OMG!! Fan-freakin-tastic fanfic come to life!! Words fail me and I still sweat over thinking about the whole ep.
My dream come true - strung up and beaten -and Alex does beaten so well!! Wo Fat was my hero as he went to town on Steve - yes, I know, I'm pretty sick ;)

There's was nothing I didn't love about this ep....except maybe for a little more effects from the beating for Steve. He bounced back a little quickly for me - but maybe that was just adrenalin still flowing. I wanted more of a out-of-it groggy Steve on the copter, and even though Chin and Danny had Steve between them, Steve looked like he could make it on his own.

Loved Joe with Steve..the hand on his shoulder and Steve leaning against him.
Loved the look from Steve to Danny with the unspoken thanks.
Loved Jimmy Buffett!
Of course, loved the bloody beating, and the screams from Steve, and yes, Jenna's reaction to watching him and realizing this was because of her.
Loved Jenna coming through at the end for Steve, although if he had stayed put, the team would have found him but we wouldn't have had that nice scene in the truck when he was laying there and couldn't really move his head (that's the groggy I wanted!)

Man, I will watch this ep daily! I didn't even mind Lori, although I wasn't thrilled with the "OMG, I love you" hug when she saw Steve ;)

This ep was perfection!

There was so much emotion in this. I mean, I LOVED the rescue. The sheer amount of willing sacrifice. I eat that up with a spoon and we got so much of it.

I think it was survival instinct and adrenaline that kept Steve on his feet for his evasive maneuvers. People always say it's his training, but SEAL go through SERE for weeks at a time and I'm sure once that adrenaline went away--he'd be a mess.

So damn good!

I'm not home on Monday nights so I watched this last night and I'm pretty sure I could hear you squeeing all the way down here. :D Did you send the script department some suggestions because it seems like they wrote an ep for you (at least the torture and escape part). Hee!

If Kono wasn't on the chopper, where was she? I know she went with them, and only Lori got left with the chopper pilot. Did they just not show her after the rescue?

I liked Jenna too. I thought for a while that she was going to be a part of the team, right up until they showed her helping Wo Fat.

Did you notice Rachel Luttrell last night on NCIS?

Date: 2011-11-23 06:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] saltyd.livejournal.com
Oooh, Rachel Luttrell on NCIS - it's on the DVR - H50 is the only show I watch live now :)

I always wanted this on SGA - but sadly never got it. But it was so worth the wait! And like I said, Alex does tortured and beaten so well :) !

I think the chopper still had to go get Kono - I thought the chopper was heading back to Buffett's place where Kono had set up surveillance.

Wish there had been a small recovery scene back at Buffett's place - but I ain't complaining!

life is hard, escapism is supposed to be fun

You said it, Babe. The A-team aspects were hilarious. The suspension of disbelief quotient was mile high. I laughed out loud when Bori fired the RPG in the helicopter; she would have totalled the helicopter. And, geee, they just jumped over the border into North Korea! But I can handwave that because it was entertaining. I never trusted Jenna, and figured that Wo Fat was controlling her by holding her fiance to ransom, but I never expected her to be murdered in cold blood. TPTB did not pull any punches. We saw murder. We saw torture. We saw unsanctioned military action. Jingoism. Danny and Steve: Steve missing Danny; Danny worried about Steve; the look on the helicopter. Chin getting engaged (which was adorable). I'm still sort of going 'awesome escapism... I need to watch it again...'I've only managed to watch it once (but I did rewind Steve being lifted into the helicopter about five times).

The h/c fanfic will be glorious.
