Lenkov Speaks about S3

Lenkov talked in vague terms about season three, most we already know, but he did set the record straight about a certain character. 'Click here' for mild spoilers for Season three.



My brief thoughts below.



I'm very pleased to read this about Catherine. I like her a lot and I'm thrilled she's become a regular, but I did not want Steve to be her boss. That would have been inappropriate and I'm glad she's not a part of Five-0 because that wouldn't have made zero sense. She's a skilled communication/satellite operator specialist, not an criminal investigator. Maybe she'll be a military liaison or some other form technical expert? We have no idea what else she does, obliviously she'll be working alongside the team in some capacity.

I'm excited about this season based on the end of last year's momentum. :D

Just a reminder, I try to keep my LJ a positive place, discussion is great, but a focus on negativity isn't.

I was so glad to see this.
I think Michelle can be a great addition but I can't see her being part of the Five-0 team.
This earlier blog suggested that might have been the direction Peter was going-

I'm glad he cleared it up, too!! Peter's also mentioned the bromance a few times even if it includes complications, because that means it still forefront on their minds. :D

I am so excited to have Michelle on as a regular! I love Cath and I love her relationship with Steve (though now Peter's making me nervous!), but even from the beginning I didn't think she would be part of the Five-0 team. I know a lot of people kinda freaked and thought she was. *shrugs* I'm glad Peter did clarify that for everyone though.

After everything good and bad with Lori, I didn't think they' go that route with Catherine, but places did use Lenkov' quotes in a leading way so I was a tad nervous, but this confirmation is great!

I'm really pleased to read this. I didn't get how she could just become a member of the team and it would work. this will make much more sense - and is kind of what I said I wanted to happen - for her to be a person who supply's the team with help/info etc.

It also shows to me that Lenkov and co have learned their lesson from shoving an extra person into the core four and just expecting it to work. This way I think will work well - and I love Catherine as a character.

That makes a lot more sense to me, too. I adore her, but I'm not sure it would work for me if she was a team member.

I'm looking forward to S3, too, especially considering how much fun the second half of S2 was. I'll just chalk up most of the first half to growing pains. :D

My thoughts exactly! I love her and I like her with Steve, but I didn't want her as a team member (Steve as her boss - no, thanks, that would have been so weird *g*). I'm sooo curious what exactly Catherine will do and why she'll stay in Hawaii!

Btw, there's a new spoiler, I'm not sure if you've seen it yet. I'll put it behind an lj spoiler, just in case you're fed up with spoilers for now. ;-)

Makes me wonder if "Mama McGarrett" will be the reason for the foretold strain in the Steve-Cath relationship. Hm...

That's a really interesting theory! Same goes for the complications between Danny and Steve? I'm kind of hoping Danny is peeved at hell about Mama McG and Steve's still too overwhelmed with OMG mom's alive to realize just yet how angry he should feel. Who knows!

Oh yeah, I'd love Danny to be peeved about Mama McG, especially since Steve will undoubtedly have a hard time allowing himself to be angry with her! It would be great if those were the 'complications' being mentioned. I'm so very curious how they'll explain Doris McGarrett's survival and whatever role she's been playing all this time!

Good to see Catherine being more involved and that she won't be a part of 5-O directly - so no chain of command conflict w Steve and such. :)

This makes me feel better; the thought of Catherine as an actual 5-0 member was sorta worrying to me.

New worry: who will be living at Casa McGarrett? Doris? (How weird would that be for Steve, especially since I don't think he's changed much about the house and it looks like his dad never changed anything.) Cath? I've loved Steve living so... Steve-ly all alone in his angsty memory-riddled, museum-piece home (except for when Danny was living there. which, okay, yeah, Danny totally can live there with Steve. Any time.). *chews lip*

Other thought: Wo Fat behind bars; Wo Fat's organization is surely still in existence? After all the years of extreme care and vigilance, Joe and Doris and whoever else is involved in her hiding away / the whole Shelburne thing, it's suddenly safe even with Wo Fat's organization still probably somewhat intact, and him still probably able to exert some control over outside events? I can't decide if throwing in the secrecy towel now is: 1) perfectly fine because TPTB are going to pretend that possibility doesn't exist as a logical thing for Doris & Co to be concerned about, 2) a point that Protective/Paranoid Steve will be bringing up 3) something being held in reserve for future angst/action, but Nobody Must Address It Now, so that it can come as a shock later and/or add guilt to various Steve-shaped shoulders.

It's all so interesting. *beams*

I doubt Cath is going to move in with Steve. I've never gotten that feeling of commitment from them and to go form fun and friendship during port calls to living together-- it would be messy. Not that you were implying it. :-P

I highly doubt Mama Mgt will either because nothing has changed has it? She still has to be in hiding and I suspect Wo Fat won't be in jail for long. Steve's paranoia will not allow his mom to be in danger, right? Although, we better get some crazy emotion from Steve. I want joy, shock, and anger damn it, because I don't have warm fuzzy feelings about his mom right now for all the trauma she put her son through regardless of her reasons.

And if you think about it..he was tortured for her and he didn't even know it! eeep!

I have feelings on this, yes I do!

I totes don't want warm fuzzies from the Oh, Guess What, I Didn't REALLY Die reunion either. :-) I want Steve feeling like everything in his family life has pretty much been a lie, all for purposes "more important" than Steve and Mary Ann were to their parents -- give me Angst, please God give me angst! So yeah -- "joy, shock, anger" -- bring it on. :-)

Not that Steve wouldn't have volunteered to be tortured for his mom's sake, had he known, but yeah, geez. HUGE deal. And Joe in all this... *pets the beautiful angst possibilities*

Steve's been used like a pawn his whole life. Jeesh and yes, he would have volunteered to be tortured for his mom because then it would have had meaning, ya think? And poor Marry!

I read a tiny something about Steve's state of mind this season that I'll mention if you want to hear it.

The fact that Catherine is going to be a regular (and therefore more often) in Season 3 makes me so very happy and exited. I love her relationship (as a friend, as a lover and as a confidant -> I believe these two tell each other things they can't tell anyone else/nobody else understands because they get it what it means not being able to tell someone something what with both being Navy Officers and being involved in secret missions and operations) and I'm just so very happy and (still) squee out loud every time Cath and Steve talk with and see each other.

Would it work with Cath being part of the Team? Well, maybe. Since I consider Max and Kamekona as a part of the Team even though they are not part of the Team, my definition of Team is quite complicated and doesn't have rigid "rules". Steve being the boss of Cath? Hm. That I don't see working. But Cath being like Max - part of the Team but Steve not being his boss? That would work for me.

I hope I made at least a bit sense?

Like I said, I'm excited that she's going to be in the show more and that doesn't not involve her suddenly 'playing cop.' That wouldn't work for me, but her aiding the team sounds like a great idea!
