Some random thoughts/musings on "Tabula Rasa" the clean slate.
I enjoyed TR...at first I wasn't getting into it, since I'm not a fan of amnesia plot lines and it was a bit slow. But after the first 15 mins I enjoyed the spin on an old plot device, the way the lighting was used, the cutting back and forth.
What a neat little bit with Dr Z, our lost little Czech with a way with clobbering people. I enjoyed trying to understand what was going on with the soldiers still following basic orders but forgetting why...kind of like how Rodney still recalled basic science and Shep's instincts of being a solider.
It was nice to see Rodney lost and confused and writing things on his arm to remember everything. Also Rodney and Sam didn't bother me, their scenes were very nice and I didn't get annoyed at all by Sam. Her scene time is just what I'd hoped, not a ton, just a few good bits here and there.
My favorite stuff was seeing a more active role for Teyla, her logic, leadership and calmness. My absolute favorite stuff were the Ronon and John scenes. I just think they have great chemistry, Ronon guiding Shep on flying the jumper, trying to remind him about the mission. The best stuff was the stunning...heh we'll never know if Ronon meant he never got tired of stunning people or just Sheppard. That's got to be a record.
Loved! Intelligent!John escaping and getting a jump on Ronon..he still has those tactical smarts. But it was that scene between them, Ronon getting through to John, knowing what to say and I adored the bit with the photograph John gave Lorne.
Didn't expect that and it was cute.
For once we got Sheppard in the infirmary recovering....and wondering if McKay's alright.
A nice episode, much better than I thought with some cool scenes. Since I'm half way done with my Ronon and Sheppard story their stuff together really made me smile and fed the muses.

Date: 2007-11-03 12:09 pm (UTC)Loved the Ronnon and John scenes [that's pretty much a given, seriously]. The "sorry buddy" was cute, I noticed "buddy" seems like a pet name both of them use [but I'm holding out for a "dude" from Sheppard]. And who can't be happy with a stunned and tied up Shep? Teyla's part was really meaty too, something I've been waiting for. It was nice to see each member of the team take a proactive role in solving the problem.
Oh, and the infirmary scene? Yeah, that would be about the time my tape ran out...... At least I got to see the caps =)

It was a good ep.

Date: 2007-11-13 06:48 pm (UTC)it does however follow a pretty good logic - look at the Radek's background - where he's from - when stripped of his recent memories he would recall his high distrust and fear of soldiers and what they represent in former soviet states
absolutely - it made us as viewers feel like participants - trying to solve the mystery with Rodney
it was fun seeing Rodney a bit off his stride and struggling much like the rest of the crew - I found Carter tolerable and that's as far as I'll go with that :)
Teyla's stuff didn't move me much in either direction - though it is painfully obvious that Miss Abs of Steel is preggers and they're covering it with coats and shirts that cover the bellybutton *rolls eyes*
but I adored the John and Ronon stuff - they have always had a great chemistry and it is about time the writers took advantage of that and yeah - made me wonder if Ronon meant Sheppard in particular or just in general in regards to the stunning
I've always enjoyed John demonstrating his intelligence - quite often in the heat and pressure of the moment it's his suggestions or possibilities that will be the trigger for the ultimate solution for Rodney, etc. and we've seen just how good he can be as demonstrated in 'Travelers' when he jumped right in and fixed the chair and rigged the subspace transmitter, etc. - the man is no schlep but prefers to let others do what they're best at when in Atlantis (or when accompanied by Rodney :P )
but I did love that it was his idea to circumvent the memory loss with Lorne that ultimately saved the day - much more of a delay as was pointed out multiple times and more would have died
I loved that John woke and wasn't trying to immediately leave the bed and fix everything - that the 'cure' had hit him hard (or morely likely that disease had) and damn if that man is gorgeous and sexy in white scrubs in the infirmary - SIGH :)
oh I'm looking forward to your John and Ronon story!

It's obvious about tehm concealing the belly but some shows would jsut write her out and they are trying to include it in the acr and I respect them for doing that.

Yes, yes! The John was hit hard for a change and it was obvious he was still woozey and hurting.
sigh the man needs to be in scrubs more often!
:-P
