H50 3x01 Ramble

First off, I watch this show for fun and the love of characters. Season openers/ enders tend to be fast and action heavy, I wasn’t expecting anything less here.
I wish we could have had a panning shot of Steve the moment he stepped into the door until he entered the house, it would have given us more insight in the way he dealt with the shock. That being said ---I loved the conversation between him mom. He was angry, distrustful, but also a man of action. He wasn’t going to let her hide away anymore.
OMG the Wo Fat rescue. Ridiculous but awesome. I’m not going to complain about the silliness of it. Hubby said he wondered if the writers sit around trying to figure out how to make every scene “awesome" and not logical. He loved it…lol
He also wondered if the writers eat a bunch of sugar and smoke weed, but he said that in this happy, fun voice.

The cargument with Danny and mama was good. I liked the way he got a dig into her and many people have complained about the way she treated Danny, what right does she have to lecture him about parenting skills and I think that was the point, right?
The irony and need to be on the defensive and judgmental because of her own guilt? I could be giving the writers too much credit maybe.
I like her; I like her because I dislike her and kind of admire her brashness. It’s interesting.
I also liked how Steve’s emotions slipped in and out in the eppy. I read the whole scene with Danny about moving to Vegas differently than most. It wasn’t about Steve trying to convince Danny to move. It was about not wanting Grace to be hurt in the middle of a huge fight. How much did Steve’s parents’ secrets destroy him and Mary? He’s just projecting and processing. I thought it was very telling.
Oh, Chin. I’m ecstatic he gets a meaty storyline. He killed me throughout the eppy, and really shined throughout. Killing Delano is going to bite him big time. I don’t think it was a ‘look I got justice’ and more like look, it didn’t change a damn thing. Or that could be me. (I'd rather Malia was still alive. The track record for female character is not good in this show)
I have no idea what is going on with Wo Fat and Doris. It’s obvious they knew each other. Not only did she not kill him ---he didn’t kill her! I mean how old was he when she killed his dad and he's been 'after her' ever since? huh? *moving on*..lol
Adam and Kono. I don’t get it, but I do kind of like it. Um..
I liked Catherine in this. I’ve always liked her and I think the fact that mama asked her if she loved Steve and she didn’t have a chance to answer is very telling. There’s going to be some interesting stuff here and I can’t wait.
That last scene with mom. Steve’s face! He’s so hurt and distrustful. It’s natural for him to hug her and be conflicted and that whole scene killed me. And of course Danny’s is upset on Steve’ behalf at the end and wow. I really need to re-watch it again. Beautiful shot of the two of them.
I wanted more Steve emotion and hope we'll get more throughout the season when there isn't so much packed into one eppy. (not enough Danny, against I blame it on a fast eppy) But it was a set up for the rest of the season and I enjoyed it. I am very stoked for the whole season.It is going to be awesome!!! \o/

Date: 2012-09-25 04:15 am (UTC)I think Steve's selflessness regarding Grace was quite sweet, coming from a guy who had no real childhood after his mom 'died'. The scene did need more, but I caught the subtext and I'm glad I'm not alone in that regard.
I hope Steve's feelings will come out more in 2, and 3. AOL can act! Use him!
Ugh. I hope Wo Fat is not her son, but I would not put that past TPTB...lol

Date: 2012-09-25 04:26 am (UTC)Yeah, I really really hope it's not true, because I think it'd be way too soap opera-ish and pretty lame, but wouldn't put it past them either. My other theory is that it's something CIA-related. Wo Fat was in bed with the CIA, and now Doris was/is CIA. Kind of curious what the deal with Doris and Wo Fat's father was. I'd be way more interested if it was some fun spy stuff and not...that.
For the most part I enjoyed it too! In the way I usually enjoy this show even when I could drive my car through the plotholes, lol. Mostly I'm just glad it's back and I'm looking forward to next week when we'll get a "regular" ep and not a season premiere on steroids. Want to see the fallout and where they're going with all of this.
