Um..Okay Torchwood Question

The past two weekends I've left Dr. Who and Torchwood on in the background while I wrote. It makes me raise an eyebrow or two now and then. I should just go on wikipedia but if I ever decide to watch from the beginning without being spoiled, I don't want to.

But Jack just go stabbed in the chest by this..well um alien knife/sword thing and he just walked or more like ran away without batting an eye.

Can he not be hurt or something?

tourchwood is OK it's more "adult content" than Doctor who and a lot more open since Jack its bisexual and it's kind of funny since he is such a Flirt lol.
but I like the the doctor better, I don't LOVE it as much as my hubby who it's a die hard doctor who fan.
But I have seen some pretty good episodes, my fav is"the girl in the fireplace" It's funny en sad, wonderful
