Um..Okay Torchwood Question

The past two weekends I've left Dr. Who and Torchwood on in the background while I wrote. It makes me raise an eyebrow or two now and then. I should just go on wikipedia but if I ever decide to watch from the beginning without being spoiled, I don't want to.
But Jack just go stabbed in the chest by this..well um alien knife/sword thing and he just walked or more like ran away without batting an eye.
Can he not be hurt or something?

He can feel pain, it's just he comes back..so he's dead for a minute..or in one instance a few days..and boom, he's back.
He doesn't kiss random strangers though, they do sort of mean something..but flirts..yep, he does do that, but that's just him. *smile*

You'll enjoy it, I've been watching it for so long now, I watched the BBC versions (I had to, I loved that character on Doctor Who) then it finally played here almost a year later,..but season 2 here is right on schedule with the BBC version, well, pretty close at least, it's week ahead, so it's almost like a double encore version on Saturdays.
