Um..Okay Torchwood Question

The past two weekends I've left Dr. Who and Torchwood on in the background while I wrote. It makes me raise an eyebrow or two now and then. I should just go on wikipedia but if I ever decide to watch from the beginning without being spoiled, I don't want to.
But Jack just go stabbed in the chest by this..well um alien knife/sword thing and he just walked or more like ran away without batting an eye.
Can he not be hurt or something?

Date: 2008-02-10 11:50 am (UTC)It can be a little bit cheesy and tongue-in-cheek at times but in general it's a fantastic show that tells some great stories... and, especially once you get to the David Tennant series, WOW there's angst and whump! :D
The first season (talking new Doctor Who here, not the classic series) with Chris Eccleston is good and tells some great stories but the character, as played by Eccleston, didn't really grab me. I like the first series but I wasn't fannish. Then DT took over and I was hooked. Overnight. Didn't hurt that his first full episode, The Christmas Invasion, had him whumped through about 90% of it! :D
Seasons 2 and 3 with Tennant as the Doctor have been excellent with only one or two clunkers (yeah, avoid the Dalek 2-parter in Season 3! :/) and some really excellent episodes.
The Doctor, especially as played by Tennant, is such a wonderful, dark, mysterious character and sooo angsty and tortured - it's wonderful! :D Seriously - give it a go!

Date: 2008-02-10 01:14 pm (UTC)Anyway, Kristen, I like both shows, but Torchwood a little more. I need to check out more of Dr. Who, because I've only seen 12 episodes total, from all seasons mixed up, most being Cpt Jack's eps in the Dr. Who show...
But Cpt Jack is my fave character followed closely by DT's doctor. You should really check both shows, it's worth it! And it keeps me hooked during these low eps of Atlantis lately, although I am looking forward for Midway and The Last Man, but after those it's a pretty long hiatus.
I need a TW ad DW icon now. XD

Date: 2008-02-11 07:07 am (UTC)Mmm yeah totally.
If you want some key eps, I'd start with (S2)Tooth & Claw. This is why/when Torchwood starts. The Girl in the Fireplace (S2) is a sad and angsty ep that focuses in on a lonely Doctor. Very good. From S1, the Captain Jack eps start with The Empty Child, through the end of that season. You can see how Jack became immortal (The Parting of Ways, I think) and Christmas Invasion features a new Doctor. Some h/c in that one. Army of Ghosts gives us the new Torchwood.
Some randomly weird episodes... Fear Her (S2), The Lazarus Experiment (S3), and these two eps Human Nature/The Family of Blood (S3) show The Doctor at his darkest.
Utopia (S3) is the return of Jack, which should have coincided with Torchwood's Abaddon (watch this first). Utopia is also the return of an old enemy.
And who is still creeped out by Blink? *shudders*
Also, Capt. John Hart is none other than James Marsters of Buffy fame. Hide yer poodles, ladies! You never know who Jack will kiss next. I'll watch Captain Jack Harness (S1 TW) for a sixth time if i have to. Dammit.
Enjoy!
