Eeek,...almost here!

I'm at work trying to get my last minute to do-list together. There was so much more I wanted to get done before I skipped town. Like I dunno, a few crit reviews I owe a writing group. I might squeeze one in before tonight.

Checked the weather and it's going to be as hot as Hades in D.C, so I'm trying to find a hat that covers the top of my head because the train station between Baltimore and Union station has no shade! (That's tougher than it appears since most were sold during teh spring, but I'm Target bound)But I did find my swimsuit! Woot.

I have my copy of jo_graham's "Stealing Fire" to read on the trip and my small notebook for any plot ideas I've been mulling over for the Help-Haiti story. Speaking of.....

I'm a small details person so my f-list here's a question that I might want to know for the next story.


I'm looking for the comparison of characters, not the actor's ages. Why does it matter? I don't know, like I said. I'm a detail person :D ANd it's a poll! Everyone loves them!

So, that would make Cam 38 in 2007 if he was 18 when he graduated high school. Oddly enough I can't find anything about Sheppard's birth date. (You'd think there would be a screen cap of a document or something) I'd always thought Cam slightly older, but now....huh.

Sheppard's birthdate is never mentioned in the series — which is annoying, yeah. Most of the fanon I've seen uses either 1967 (Joe Flanigan's birth year) or 1968 (Rodney's birth year, given in "Quarantine").

I could have Cam be the same age as John then. It doesn't really have a direct impact on the scene, I just want to be canonly correct :-P

I'm pretty sure Sheppard's birth date was never pinned down in canon. Rodney's birthdate was used for a password once, so we know what it was (1968) but I'm pretty sure there is nothing likewise for any of the other characters (and I've hunted for it!). The general fannish consensus seems to be to use the actor's age, but I don't see any reason why you'd have to (and in fact there are a number of cases in which the character seems evidently a different age than the actor playing them, like Keller, or -- canonically -- Teal'c ... in fact, come to think of it, if Cam was supposed to be 38 in 2007, then the character is several years younger than the actor).

Yeah, Ben was 44 in 2007. He usually ends up playing a character 5-10 years younger than his age.

I know I'm being really nit picky about the age thing, but it's for the very reason you mentioned. The actors do look a different age than the character. It makes me wonder what canon age they are supposed to be :-P

If we use Joe's real age, then that makes him a year older than Cam and I always had this odd impression that Cam was 'supposed' to be a few years older than Sheppard.
